Sequined Flip-Flops

I'm all about a little sparkle here and there, so below is a super easy and inexpensive way to add a touch to a basic pair of flip-flops and maybe even branch out to a pair of neglected heels found in the deep depths of your closet...

Simple DIY:
Pair of flip-flops (Old Navy has the best deal and color selection)
Mixed sequins (varying shapes and colors - I bought a bag at Michael's)
Super Strong glue (I used E-6000 and it's great)
Small paintbrush
I also bought a small box of faux crystals and found a great way to use them on heels...
Squeeze out a bit of the glue and rub it in on each side then smear around just a bit with the paintbrush.  You want a good sticky surface.
Pour a generous amount of the sequins onto the glue - they set in randomly which is the look I went with rather than trying to make it look to uniform.
Gently push them into the glue, shake off the excess and rearrange a bit if need be making sure to remove any that are not secure.  You will most likely have to add a couple by hand with a dab of glue if some areas did not take. Then put them in a shady spot to dry overnight.
This is what I did with the crystals... Love the new sparkle added to a pair of slingbacks I had forgotten about.  These took a bit more time as you want to make sure to create a pattern and have each look the same.  Inspiration was a pair of Mui Mui heels I saw HERE
Cap-toed a pair of H&M ballet flats ~ The toe of the shoes had gotten scraped up prior and looked really worn so I added a bit of embellishment and good as new!  These are really fun with the standard jeans and a white tee look.  As you can see I kept within a certain color scheme for these.

Send the Very Best!

Today on Daily Candy there was a great discount offer from a stationary / design company called Colette Paperie (details HERE).  These hilarious and quite clever greeting cards are just the perfect touch to send to a loved one via snail mail and really make their day.  Just going through all the choices made mine!  Here are my five choices (yeah, right - who are we kidding... top 9):
I say this all the time...
I can think of lots of occasions for this gem.
It's THIS kind of year...
Laughed out loud with this one.
Hell yeah!
Who wouldn't want to open this up on a Monday?
Funny - Kinda remind you of a certain time in your young adult life??
Hallelujah!
Friendship to the rescue!
No, I didn't post them all... there's many more to choose from :-)
Enjoy!

Let's Tango!

If you haven't already heard, Pantone announced that THE color OF THE YEAR is Tangerine Tango (shown here) and I couldn't be more giddy... I am a lover of all things orange and with this big endorsement from the color palate experts this fantastic citrus hue is now found all over the place and is sure to stay all through the year...
Below are a few of my finds... so far:
Perfect blush found at Sephora (via a partnership w/ Pantone) - and the packaging is fantastic!  One side of the blush is matte and the other shimmer.  The shimmer is intense, so I suggest only just a touch on the apples of you cheeks and tip of you nose.
My favorite orangie-red color - Essie's Geranium.
"Of the Moment" ~ My favorite lip color combo is Revlon's classic Orange Flip with Bare Escentuals Buxom Lip gloss in Sugar
Perfectly modern chain link designed stationary found in the dollar bin on a recent trip to Michael's.
Bright, bold business card holder ~ Forever 21
West Elm duvet cover (loving the reversible option) and a sassy chevron patterned bolster pillow from Pier One to brighten up the bedroom.
How will you Tango this year??

Easter Inspiration

I've spent a good part of the week sprucing up the house for a great weekend of BBQ-ing, magazine reading, time with friends sipping sparkly cocktails and if the forecast is accurate, Spring Break style weather for LA is promised to be on the way!  Have a fantastic weekend!!
Aren't these adorable!!  Found this little pack of chicks at Cost Plus World Market.
The Dining Room table is set for a Sunday morning brunch.
Ethel M. chocolate peanut butter eggs... These are almost gone ~ too good.
Easter Bunny lavender
I got several of these little peek-a-boo eggs... As a child I would stare into them hoping I would be magically transformed so I could fit inside.
I put a few of these around in my flower pots outside... If only there were glittery birds that laid speckled, chocolate candy eggs!

PB&J Parfait

I am often amazed by how the most simple of ingredients can combine to make the most delicious flavor.  It is so true for this perfect, nutritious breakfast parfait made from the comforting flavors the child in me still loves... Simply layer in the items noted below and enjoy a quick, healthy start to your day!
YUM!! How deceiving does this look... The kiddos will think you've gone mad when you serve this to them for breakfast!!
What you'll need:
~ Couple fresh strawberries & banana slices (or any fresh fruit you prefer)
~ Banana Yogurt (I chose this flavor as it mixes so well with the PB&J)
~ Organic, CRUNCHY Peanut Butter (seriously, you need the crunch - best part)
~ Organic Strawberry Preserves

All from TJ's ~ Gotta love 'em
Start with the fresh fruit (as shown above), then add a couple tablespoons of the yogurt - on top of that a teaspoon of peanut butter and then a dollop of the preserves.
Repeat above until you reach the top... Note:  Peanut butter works best a room temp.  So if you store in the fridge, scoop out what you need and pop in the microwave for no more than 15 - 20 seconds.
Special thanks to RD for the inspiration!

Not So Mellow

Neon yellow is quickly becoming one of my favorite accent colors for this Spring into Summer.  And I want to make sure I emphasize ACCENT color as just a small touch mixed with white, denim or a soft grey is all you need, otherwise you can easily be transported back to 1987 and none of us want that.
I spotted these Kensie wedges back in January and finally wore them this past weekend... I was stopped everywhere I went so don't be surprised if you now see them all over LA!
Fun ampersand print to add to your space found HERE on Etsy.

OK - Yes, I think I like the look of a accent door in a home with minimal colors and textures.

Phospho statement necklace - Baublebar
