Weekly Must Have!

Fall is in the air - well, maybe just in my head... and the back to school commercials are in full force!  I popped in for some of J Crew's summer sale basics and WOW - the fall line is in and looking fantastic!
Off to purchase the bright red Minnie's and the violet Capri Cafe pants!

I Survived Comic Con!!

It's a bird, it's a plane... You guessed it!  And not just one, but PLENTY of caped crusaders descended down into San Diego's 2011 Comic Con last week and I was there to catch some of the great moments.
I'm super excited for this new Fall show - 2 Broke Girls on CBS staring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs!  They were mobbed signing autographs and posing for pics. They were super friendly and I think a bit overwhelmed by the craziness that is Comic Con!
Back to the past!!!  Here I am at the Mattel Booth (special VIP access before the show opened) posing in front of the famous DeLorean from the 80's iconic movie Back to the Future!
Why the smile?  I'm sawing off my wrist on the mock set from the hit TV series Walking Dead on AMC.  2nd Season begins mid-October!
Major dream come true... Wobbly knees, butterflies in my stomach - OMG, I got to me my #1 heartthrob - the one and only Rob Lowe!!!  He's got some fun stuff in the works... It's my understanding the blond highlights are for a role he is playing as a serial killer.  Thanks to my friends at Fearnet for making this happen!!
And finally - at the end of a long day of fighting crime (and crowds), even a super hero needs an ice cream break!

Summer Hair ~ And Living is Easy!

Untitled Tousled, teased and looking fantastic - this is what I'm striving for this summer!
With fun ponytails and loose braids these easy up-do's should take minutes to achieve... Add in some fun chandelier earrings and you'll be worthy of a walk down the red carpet!  If you are sporting medium to long lengths this summer, take it off to the side & tease it out for some volume - So fun!

Pleasant Holiday!

A definite highlight of this summer was my excursion to the island of Oahu for my childhood BFF's wedding on the peaceful North Shore.  We had an amazing time bumming around the beach house on Sunset Beach that no doubt wants to "Keep the Country, Country!".  I loved it and so needed to get myself on "Aloha Time"!
After the special days leading up to the beautiful wedding celebration we headed out to the "city side"...No sign of the simple life in Waikiki!
The beach was packed, the water was warm and blue and the city scape made me question that I was actually in the islands rather than Santa Monica, CA!
I was completely overwhelmed at The International Marketplace!  So many goodies in every direction.
I was one lucky girl to be able to experience the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel - The rooms were just my style - the pink and gold toile accent wall is a Major Must-Have!
And the pink, gingham Frette bathrobe was a luxurious touch.

Major Mahalo!

Major Manicure!

My Garden grubby hands needed a major overhaul so off I went to my favorite local nail salon for a buff and polish!  I'm into summer brights and even with my short nails wanted to find something that will stand out...  New fav (Sorry, Lincoln Park...) - It's Essie in Geranium:
Love the orangie - red color... goes great with my little freckles, don't ya think?  Oh, and you noticed that cocktail ring... It's Trina Turk, of course!

I Scream, You Scream!

YAY!  It's National Ice Cream Day!!  I am a HUGE fan of ice cream - can't live a stressful week without it!  I'll be celebrating BIG TIME today with my favorite flavor, Baskin Robin's Peanut Butter & Chocolate... What's your flavor?

Summer Reads

As summer approaches and is now unfortunately half over, I am proud to say I can check off one of my items on the to-do list... I've been holding on to 2 books that I highly recommend for a lazy, warm weather read on a weekend getaway:
An Object of Beauty by Steve Martin (yep, SNL Steve Martin) was a really fun journey back to the mid 90's with a super sassy, sexy and smart character in her mid 20's.  It takes place in the booming art world of NYC and leads you through to the tragic times of 9/11.  I paired this book in the pic with 2 great Modern Art reference books as the novel takes you through many masters and I needed a bit of help with the visuals :-)
I'm just getting started on this fantastic, sarcastic and so close to home (literally) novel that a close friend mentioned was a must read about the inter-workings of the Pasadena "Elite" Society of women, friendships, marriages... I'm heading out to the backyard lounger with an iced coffee right about now - Chapter 4 awaits!!

Speak Greek to Me!

Just returned from a fantastic trip to Athens, Greece - A life changing, amazing experience meeting some of the most gorgeous, hospitable people who were so kind to take me under their wing and show me their amazing city!  Of course, the trip would have not been complete without a day searching for treasures to bring home... And I don't mean swiping a piece of the ancient ruins of The Acropolis (although it did cross my mind!)
Found the perfect bag at a boutique in the Kolanaki area of Athens known for its chic shops and trendy cafe's - They were having a HUGE sale and I admit, I went a bit nuts!  The infinity pattern and the gold studded trim make it for me - Total fav!!
I received this delicious scented bath set from a dear and adorable friend in Athens - It's from Mastiha Shop and the oils in the body wash come from a type of pistachio tree known to have amazing healing properties.
Well, I am just in love my leather, clay colored platforms - I cant stop imagining all the outfits I'll wear and places I'll go in these beauties... Another great find at the Kolanaki boutique sale.  I'm pretty sure the ladies who owned the shop wished I lived in Athens.
Funky / Fun slingback wedges!
One of my most favorite discoveries was the News Stands scattered about the city.  I wanted to pick up a couple fashion mags for a souvenir and to my surprise found out that they "come with presents"!  They package Vogue, Elle, etc. with beach bags!!
My new friend at this news stand loved me... I carried off as many mags w/ presents as I could!  7 Euros - can't beat that.
A delicious dinner at the Sea - Met friends, drank wine, sampled delicious treats.  I feel so lucky to have had this experience!

Summer Camp Reunion!!

Summer Camp Reunion!!
A BFF of mine requested some ideas for a casual, yet chic outfit for an upcoming reunion with many friends from her childhood summer camp days and above are my visions for her!!  She is an adorable redhead that could totally pull off some bold, blue color blocking styles so she stands out in her crowd adding in just a couple hints of vibrant yellow or summer's hit color, coral.  Let's see if she takes my advice :-)

Sweet Tooth for the 4th!

I love a festive BBQ on the 4th of July (especially a nicely grilled corn on the cobb smothered in butter and sea salt with a sprinkle of chili pepper), but today for some odd reason I am drawn to something sweet... Below are some cravings I came across... I'm thinking I will tackle the ice cream sandwiches!

Exercise your Independence and have your dessert 1st!  Happy 4th of July - Be Safe and Happy!
